CATM Instructors are the Air Force’s small arms Subject Matter Experts (SME). CATM focuses on weapons qualifications, small arms training and maintenance & accountability, serving as the instructors for readiness for Airmen.

This mission requires the storage of weapons inside the CATM Armory, weapon parts, tools, ammo, weapon cases as well as workbench space, weapon vises, clearing barrels, general shelving and more.

Most CATM armories can get by with static, free-standing weapon racks. The larger CATM armories that house weapons for multiple missions may require Mobile Weapon Rack Systems or Lateral Weapon Rack Systems.

CATM Weapon Storage

As part of the USAF Security Forces Squadrons, CATM instructor’s are a special duty field to conduct marksmanship training, weapons qualification, and maintenance for the entire base population, including joint warfighters and local law enforcement.

This specialization calls for a weapon storage system that can store all of the required weapons, courtesy stored weapons, associated gear and weapon parts.

Designing an armory with proper aisle spacing between weapon racks, shelving and workbenches is paramount. With the dimensions of your arms room and your MTOE (weapon density list) we can determine how many weapon racks are required to store your weapons and put together a floor plan showing the weapon rack layout. Site visits are a great resource for end users to see product options and go over arms room layouts.

CATM Armory – Mobile Weapon Rack Systems

CATM Armories are not typically the main Security Forces armory, which means the spaces are smaller. Working in tight spaces Mobile Weapon Racks allow armory’s to store more weapons than free standing weapon racks.

As all arms rooms are unique, observation of the 18″ fire sprinkler code keeps weapon racks within NFPA allowance.

Combat Weapon Storage provides several standard and custom weapon rack heights all based on what is a best fit for each respective space. There is no one size fits all weapon rack.

Combat Weapon Racks are easiest to procure through the Federal Supply System, GCSS-Army as a Class IX funds. With 50 approved National Stock Numbers, Combat Weapon Storage Combat Weapon Racks has an immediate answer to storage and security in arms rooms. NSN Weapon Racks from Combat Weapon Storage Systems can be loaded without having to be field certified by a physical security officer. The weapon racks must be bolted to the floor, wall or side to side with adjacent racks to meet the 500 lb requirement.

Turnkey systems are available through the AbilityOne DLA/TLS contract, which are more competitively priced than GCSS-A.

Combat Weapon Storage Systems are ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001 & OHSAS 18001 manufactured, offering the highest quality manufacturing standards in the industry.

Both our 9 & 10 point locking system weapon racks are TACOM approved for use in armories and exceed AR 190-11, MCO 5530.14A, OPNAVINST 5530.13D & DOD 5100.76.

The weapon rack kits linked to this page will have the appropriate NSNs provided as well as a description and the size of the weapon rack provided and storage capacity. There are physical PDF cut sheets at the bottom of each specific rack page that can be downloaded to help assess your requirement v the weapons and gear to be stored.

Rifles, light and medium machine guns are all stored with common components that can be adjusted or reconfigured based on your MTOE.

Heavy weapons are configured with heavy weapon bases and wider barrel saddles to properly support the barrels of those weapons.

NSN Weapon Racks can be purchased via GCSS-Army or other Defense Supply channels.

Configurable CATM Weapon Storage Solutions

No two CATM facilities operate exactly the same way. Weapon inventories, training requirements, available space, and workflows can vary considerably.

A properly planned CATM armory can be configured around current requirements while providing flexibility for future changes in weapon platforms, equipment, and storage capacity.

From fixed weapon racks and shelving to high-density mobile storage, armory workbenches, weapon carts, and tracking systems, an integrated approach can improve the overall security and efficiency of the armory.

Improve Weapon Accountability

Maintaining accurate weapon accountability is essential in any military armory.

Combining organized physical storage with a weapon tracking system can provide greater visibility into weapon inventory, assignments, movement, and status. This helps CATM personnel maintain control over valuable assets while simplifying routine inventory and accountability procedures.
